This detail illustrates a field-formed flashing end dam at the flashing termination over a window lintel. End dams should return vertically a minimum of 1 inch. If the end dam has a taper (not shown), it should taper to no less than 1″ in height. The end dam is located at the head joint and is hidden behind the veneer’s face. It serves to block water from seeping beneath the flashing’s end termination and into the wall.
